Signs, Shapes, Spain - 2019

 

Being a photographer, you tend to test yourself to not take tourist travel photographs. Catalonia, Spain being hot, sunny and a typical tourist destination makes it difficult to not get those holiday snaps. This project takes a secondary view, turning backs on what the typical tourist wants to see and looks at the other features that can be seen at a Spanish seaside.

Spain tends to be a very dry and dusty country and the toursit sees overly saturated landscapes of the sea, sand and swimming pools to make it appealing to visit. The country has grey and mundane assets that are a hard contrast against the lush green and blue skies which are missed when stood looking at the view.
