230 Miles - 2019 [Publication]

In a topographical approach to photography, this work is composed of three documentary branches; A journey through the by-passed and forgotten locations, stops at the Non-Places, like service stations and it looks at how the road slices through the landscape like a wound.

Despite the M6 being the first motorway in Britain, the motorway network is modern compared to the rest of Europe, bringing some interesting design that takes cues from brutalist architecture and retro-futuristic fantasy, severe and alien in contrast to the surrounding landscape.

Marking 60 years since the first stretch of the M6 Motorway opened, 230 Miles emphasises the history and imprint on the British terrain. With influences from the likes of Paul Graham and Nadav Kander, this project is a geographical expression of what we take for granted today.
